Task description: |
This action stems from and builds on the Strategic Partnerships for the Implementation of the Paris Agreement (SPIPA). The overall objective of this global action is to promote the effective implementation of the Paris Agreement in key strategic non-EU countries in the context of economic recovery from the pandemic crisis. By fostering exchanges and collaboration among national and sub-national administrations, business communities, academia and civil society stakeholders, the action encourages and assists the EU and other major economies in making their best efforts towards the goals of the Paris Agreement, harnessing international economic and political relations to move more quickly together towards its full implementation. The action includes technical cooperation among peers, support to sub-national authorities and civil society organisations, seminars/visits and communication activities. It targets major economies and selected other midsize economies. The activities foreseen will be an integral part of the EU’s Climate Diplomacy approach, in its bilateral climate policy dialogues and action in multilateral fora. Likely geographic focus in Africa: Egypt, Morocco, South Africa; Americas: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Mexico and the United States; Asia-Pacific: Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam; Eurasia: Russia, Ukraine; Middle-East: Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates. |

Qualifications: |
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in economics, natural resources management, environmental science, development studies or related disciplines; - Excellent working knowledge of the Paris Agreement, green economy and related policies and best practices, in the EU and in developing countries; knowledge of the international climate negotiation processes under UNFCCC an added advantage; - At least 10 years of professional experience, including 5 years in the context of international cooperation and 5 years working on environmental/climate related issues; - Experience in fostering exchanges and collaboration among national and sub-national administrations, business communities, academia and civil society on issues related to environment and climate change; - Experience in developing regional capacity building strategies; - Proven experience as Team leader on at least 3 assignments; - Experience managing EU-funded development cooperation programmes; - Excellent written and oral communication skills, fluency in English required; Knowledge of French and/or Spanish and/or Portuguese would be an asset. |
