Task description:

A technical assistance facility will be set up for the provision of high level technical assistance and policy advice at country, regional and global level to support the upgrade and implementation of the nationally determined contributions under the paris agreement and other relevant regional, national and local climate strategies and action plans, including national adaptation plans, land policies and practices, disaster risk reduction strategies and low-carbon/carbon neutral development strategies.

The objective is to contribute to the goals set in the paris agreement, the sendai framework, the 2030 United Nations Agenda and to implement the external dimension of the European Green Deal. 

Qualifications:

- At least a Master's degree or equivalent in environmental science, engineering, natural resource management, or related fields;

- At least 12 years of working experience in the field of environment and climate change in developing countries;

- At least 5 years of working experience in the field of GHG monitoring, emission reduction, supporting National Adaptation Plan (NAP), National Adaptation Programmes of Action (NAPA) and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC);

- Experience as Team Leader of at least one (1) climate change and environment development project;

- Experience in managing EU-funded development cooperation programmes, including with establishing and implementing monitoring systems;

- Experience in developing regional capacity building strategies;

- An excellent verbal and written command of English and a working knowledge of French; and

- Excellent management and communication skills are essential.
